Tuesday's Lunch Stop at Jackson, NH |
This was a special year for steam as it marked the 100th Anniversary of the first motorized vehicle to climb Mount Washington in New Hampshire. A Locomobile steamer piloted by F.O. Stanley was the first car to climb this steep and treacherous road. This was also the largest ever gathering of steam cars in one place. For the viewing on Sunday approximately 70 steam cars were displayed. Tuesday through Friday marked the running of the annual East Coast steam car tour. Participants had the opportunity to travel in and experience the New Hampshire countryside.
